Hi Everyone!
Aaron had his 1 mo WBV on Monday and did great! (Well, he did nothing
really, just laid there!) At birth he was 7lbs 8.4oz, 21.5 inches
long, and has grown to 9lbs 7oz and 22.25 inches long in 4 weeks! DH
and I are not big/tall people and it is tripping me out that he seems
so huge (I mean, I top the height chart at possibly 5ft 1/2inch). He
is 75th for height, and 50th for weight. Kai is more our size - she
has always been 5th% for height and weight.
The first 4 weeks went by so quickly - I feel like we have had him in
our family *forever*. Of course there were some moments of
frustration that time moved ever so slowly, but now we are getting
into a groove.
Something I have been wondering about is: When I heard stories about
labor and delivery, the main emphasis is the pain of delivery. Why
doesn't anyone talk about the pain of *recovery* from delivery or the
pain of beginning to BF? Heck, I had the epidural, so the delivery
was great! (I know some choose not to use any drugs - not discounting
anyone's experience) The pain of recovery, now THAT was not fun at
all. The swelling of the nether regions, the stitches (unfortunately,
I had a 3rd degree tear), the buildup of extra blood that causes more
swelling of face, hands, and legs/feet (lasted 1 week), etc. I was
not that prepared for the after pain at all. I was rather surprised
at the complexity of just going to the bathroom (rinse with this, put
this cream, use the tucks pads, put the giant ice pack on the giant
pad in the giant net undies. And then BF-ing. I won't get into it
lest I sound like I am complaining too much (!), but that pain (which
is now gone - lasted almost to 4 weeks exact) was piercing! Anyway -
were any of these topics covered in the "Girlfriend's guide to ..."?
LOL. Despite all of that, I am thoroughly enjoying being a Mommy x2.
We feel so blessed to have the op****tunity to carry TWO sleeping kids
from the car at night. Who would have thought?
