Louise Brown is turning 30 tomorrow

Happy Birthday Louise Brown!! And thank you from the bottom of my heart
Leslie and John Brown, her parents, for taking the chance, for being
willing
to be the first. http://news.yahoo.com/s/afp/britainhealthfertility
and
for
the doctors, and researchers and medical staff who worked so hard to bring
IVF to success. (As an aside, several of the articles that have been
written
lately have stated that Louise was the first pregnancy achieved through
IVF,
but that didn't sound right to me, so I looked it up. From what I could
find
there were other pregnancies before Louise, but did not result in live
births. Just me being overly literal I suppose. =-)

Louise has her own little boy now and no signs of the infertility problem
that plagued her mom. Louise has a sister too who was also an IVF baby and
also has a little boy without fetility concerns.

I saw this headline in the news yesterday and today and was reminded of
living in Scotland when she was born. The announcements were on the front
page of every newspaper. There was incredible pride and excitement. There
in
the relatively small British Empire IVF had been successful for the very
first time. Two British doctors had made history and sparked an amazing
fire
in the reproductive technology world. From one "test tube" baby to now.
It
boggles my mind. When I looked it up there had been 3,000,000 successful
IVF
births from 1978 to 2006. The IVF research was apparently where ovarian
stimulation was really expanded and understood and progesterone sup****t
was
provided. It's just awe-inspiring. I know that there were many other
doctors
and families that dug in and gave everything they could to contribute.
But,
since Louise is having a birthday tomorrow, I was just drawn to them.

I couldn't be more thankful for the research that helped me finally have
Rachel.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY LOUISE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
