Not only is it well over 100 degrees already most days. Not only do we
juggle positions in the top three for housing foreclosures between, of
course, two other neighboring areas, but now we are
NUMBER 1 for car thefts. Of all the metropolitan areas full of gangs,
murder, crime, we here in lovely metropolitan Modesto, where there are
more
for sale signs than occupied houses, are currently seeing more and more
vehicles disappear from our streets It really is okay we can't afford the
gas anyway, but it's a ***** when it seems like half the cars getting
stolen
also happen to be someone's home on wheels. Okay I am done *****ing. I am
also perpetually done with the ever worsening situation in this area in
California. The latest article about car theft is below just to prove it
=-))
"The NICB tracks metropolitan statistical areas for vehicle theft rates,
determining them by the number of vehicle theft offenses per 100,000
habitants using the 2007 U.S. Census population estimates. Four of the top
10 cities for auto theft in 2007 are in California--and all four are in
the
top five, in fact.
Modesto, Calif., ranks at No. 1, with San Diego/Carlsbad/San Marcos in the
third spot, Stockton in fourth and San Francisco/Oakland/Fremont in fifth
place. The city in second place, the only one in the top five not in
California, is Las Vegas/Paradise.
"One huge factor is that there are more vehicles in California than any
other state, making it a target-rich environment to begin with," says
Frank
Scafidi, NICB spokesman. "The proximity to international borders and
sea****ts is also a factor. Both are widely used in the illegal ex****tation
of stolen vehicles."
