This is what I would do. It sounds like he needs just one nap per day now.

By moving his nap time later bit by bit, you'll eventually get to where
he's 
napping after lunch, rather than before.

When my oldest DD was nine months old, she started refusing her morning
naps 
and would only nap in the afternoon. Initially I tried to fight it,
thinking 
she was way too young to be down to only one daily nap, but she really had

reached that stage by then and there was nothing I could do to change
that. 
(She's *always* been the type to require less sleep than other kids; even
as 
an infant she slept only about 10 hours a day.)
